My Discovery of Science

Giovannia Barbosa's artwork was selected for the American Chemical Society Publication’s Diversity and Inclusion Cover Art Series. Gio's cover artwork and her accompanying editorial “My Discovery of Science” are featured in Journal of Organic Chemistry.

"I am very happy to have been selected for the ACS Diversity & Inclusion Artwork Series as I stand by the message behind it. Demonstrating diversity through this series is a very unique and creative way to increase representation in Chemistry. I was honored that they gave me the opportunity to also include my own editorial where I describe my inspiration for the cover. While science is more objective and art is subjective, I never stood behind the idea that one should only stick with one or the other. I always knew I wanted a career in the sciences, but I really enjoy my hobbies in the arts. While the outcomes of science and art are different, the processes involved can have many similarities!"
