There are many opportunities to engage in research in the Chemistry department, starting as early as the first year. These can take the form of volunteering as well as research for academic credit. There are also numerous opportunities to participate in research over the summer both at Brown and elsewhere.
Research involves working closely with the faculty member and other lab members on a project associated with the research interests of the lab. The best way to find out about on-going research in the department is to examine the descriptions of faculty research, organized by research area, which are provided in the links below. Once you have identified research topics that interest you, reach out directly to the faculty member to explore potential projects and openings. Our professors welcome meetings with undergraduates to discuss research interests and opportunities.
